When I first seen the trailer for this I had really high hopes And I am sorry to say it didn't live up to the hype. Now without going off on a how Quentin Tarantino is a overrated director rant.
The basic plot is a group of jewish american soldiers(and one x nazi) known as the Basterds are ch...osen to spread fear throughout the third reich. I like the concept since its not your typical ww2 movie. Though maybe its just me but I would rather watch a ww2 movie that has some factual historical premis rather then a fictious plot. If you came for violence you will be disapointed because its no worse then alot of ww2 movies. The basterds going through scalping German soldiers unless they talk then they carve a swastica in there forehead. Sorry quentin not all German soldiers in ww2 where NAZI's theres a difference.
Now to the acting, Brad pitts southern accent is fucking terrilble to say the least. I dont know if that was the intention or what but my god. It's so forced, everytime he talks you think to yourself, god wheres Angelina when ya need her. It's like fuck go save haiti or something just stop talking. Other then his lack luster preformance the rest of the cast did a good job. Christopher Waltz who played German COL. Hans Landa did a surpurb job. He Spoke all the languages in the movie, which If i remember correctly is English, French, German and Italian. His preformance almost makes you forget about brads.
The Way the German army was potrayed in this is laughable. I know its a fictious plot but seriously you couldn't come up with somehting better. having all the German top officials including Hitler watching a movie in a French theatre when there at war. The bastards trying to influtrate the theatre along with brad trying to speak italian(with his sothurn accent).I wish i was making that one up. Plus I didnt care much for the ending and no I wont spoil the ending. I only do that if the movie is gawd awful. The way the the Allies win the war and the movie ends is lackluster to say the least.
Overall Its worth a rent that will keep ya entertained and shut your brain off for 90 min. I personally Can't ignore the fact there is no historical base at all. but thats just me | | Â LINKS: |
