    REVIEW:

Canadian Death Metal band Aeternam formed in Quebec City in 2007 and are already signed to Metal Blade. The band brings a twist to their death metal adding epic melodic soloing and middle-eastern influences. SOme may best describe it as being the spawn of Behemoth and Nile, I call it brilliant.

Keeping in mind that this is a debut album with the label and the band is fairly new on the scene, I have to give it to them. They took risks that a lot of other death metal bands might not. Some metal heads might shy away from bands that not only use death growls but incorporate clean vocals, this however is a band that delivers the goods. The melodic atmosphere allows for the delivery to come across clear and gives a bit of added juice to the songs. The harmonized guitar parts are flawless, the riffs are all too memorable, the blast beats are thre but don't overpower any of the other elements of the music.

One of the hings i liked most about the cd is that you never knew what to expect next. It starts off slowly with low and very faint vocal then bursts into a minut and a half of great guitar work ot introduce you to a rhealm of great tunes. You can really heard the middle-eatern influence in the 6th track Iteru and from there it jumps right into the aggressive sounds of Goddess Of Masr without missing a beat. The soloing job done in Circle In Flames was enjoyableable transitioning back and forth with the added keyboards.

The production is at par with most of the hits being record now days. Technology is allowing recordings to come out nearly flawless and this is no exception. I am going to be looking into the bands tour dates and rest assured if they hit Toronto, I will be there holding the mighty horns, high and proud. Whatever you do, don't over look this band, they are definitely worth the time.
