Singing with a band for a dozen years and then having the band call it quits might just be the end of many vocalists careers. When it comes to vocalist Floor Jansen life since After Forever's disband has not changed other then her new project ReVamp. Sticking to symphonic power metal with a few AF styled chorus' ReVamp's debut album on Nuclear Blast will have previous fans screaming for more.
I found the cd to be quite a relaxing piece of work. Keeping in mind that I tend to lean over to the more aggressive types of bands, I found this cd to quite enjoyable as well. There is a reason that the proclaimed "master of the chords" decided not to call it quits with her singing career as she has one of the most beautiful voices that I have heard from this genre. Adding to her vocals on the cd are three other talented singers that appear in a couple of different songs. George Oosthoek (ex-Orphanage) is in the opening track "Here's My Hell", you will find a duet with Russel Allen (Symphony X) entitled "Sweet Curse" and one of my fave songs on the cd has Bjorn Strid (Soilwork) giving it a bit of an edge. You will also find some pretty heavy riffage going on throughout the release.
My fave tunes on the album were Disdain, Here's My Hell and Disgraced. If you are a fan of After Forever, Epica, Symphony X or just symphonic metal give this one a listen as it's definately worth it.
